DEFINITION

Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 10A (468 aa, ~50 kDa) is encoded by the human TNFRSF10A gene. This protein plays a role in the activation of caspase-dependent apoptosis.

DesignNote

A member of the TNF family. TRAIL Receptor 1 (DR4) contains two cysteine-rich pseudorepeats resembling regions in TNFR1, DR3, and FAS, a transmembrane domain, and an intracellular death domain. Unlike FAS, TNFR1, and DR3, DR4 does not use FADD to transmit the death signal, suggesting the use of a distinct signaling machinery.
