Preferred Name

风湿性多肌痛 / Polymyalgia rheumatica

Definitions

Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is a syndrome characterized by aching of the proximal portions of the extremities and torso. Provisional classification criteria for PMR by the European League Against Rheumatism/American College of Rheumatology Collaborative Initiative should be applied to patients aged 50 years or older with bilateral shoulder aching, and abnormal CRP and/or ESR. The scoring algorithm is based on morning stiffness >45 minutes (2 points), hip pain/limited range of motion (1 point), absence of rheumatoid factor and/or anti-citrullinated protein antibody (1 point), with optional ultrasound criteria. Most commonly, PMR occurs in isolation, but may be seen in 40-50% of patients with giant cell arteritis.
