Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) is the prototype of the Hepadnavirus Family. Included in the family are the Woodchuck Hepatitis Virus (WHV) and the Duck Hepatitis B Virus (DHBV) which provide animal models of infection. The HBV genome is a partially double stranded circular DNA. A viral reverse transcriptase is bound to the 5' extremity of the long strand. |
